Forecast for Runoff Control

The Kewaunee County Land and Water Conservation Department has recommended a new tool for farmers who apply manure to the land. A forecast map shows the likelihood of runoff from rainfall or snowmelt based on considerations for precipitation, soil moisture and individual watershed characteristics.

This looks like a great addition to any farmer’s routine of best practices for soil and water conservation. Like any good tool, you have to use it for it to be effective.
