The previous post has generated a lot of interest and comment. A reader points out, “the manure will have to be tanked to the satellite pit, dumped in, and then pumped back out to a tanker to be spread at a later date at a different location. How can these increased operating costs alone make the proposed location viable? [More than 2000 tankers will be required to fill a 13M gallon pit].”
A hidden cost to Kewaunee County taxpayers will be repair to county roads over which those tankers travel. The frequency of trips and weight will certainly hasten the wear and tear to roads between the source and the pit, 3 mile away. Click on photo below for enlarged view of the area.
