Wildflowers Continue to Dazzle

Large yellow lady slipper orchids were seen along the Ahnappe Trail near Algoma last week. These are some of the most beautiful wildflowers common to the Great Lakes region. It has been over picked and needs protection. After germination, seedlings may take up to 15 years to flower.

  1. Thanks for the great photo! I would encourage area residents and visitors to the area to get out on the trails soon. I was out this past week a number of times and the Spring flowers are fantastic. There are dozens and dozens of different plants blooming right now – really fantastic. What a great treasure for Kewaunee County, and a draw for tourists. Jack
