Kewaunee Cares resumed its regular monthly water sampling program in April. The latest water testing results from samples taken on May 28, 2013 show a stark contrast from the April 29, 2013 sampling in the levels of Total Coliform Bacteria and E.coli Bacteria. At the time of the April sampling, few new manure applications had been made throughout the county because of wet field conditions. Applications started in May as soon as equipment could get into the fields. Nitrate levels remain in a safe measure (less than 10 mg/L) at all testing sites except at Cty S and Maple Road in Lincoln Township where the amount was at 20.11 mg/L. This site has usually tested high for coliform bacteria and nitrates. Phosphorus levels are low at all testing locations.
